Abdourahmane SECK

Biography

Dr. Abdourahmane Seck has a multidisciplinary background encompassing philosophy, anthropology, and the modern and contemporary history of Africa. For around fifteen years, he has worked on the (de)production of social and symbolic links in Africa, with particular emphasis in the areas of religion, politics, migration and decolonial historiographies. Abdou Seck is based at the Faculty of Civilizations, Religions, Arts and Communication at Gaston Berger University in Saint-Louis, where he teaches at the Center for the Study of Religions. He is the author of several books and articles on Islam, south-south migrations and the question of commonality. Dr Seck has been active in several trade union and political organizations in Africa and Europe. In 2020, he co-founded a decolonial collective called the Action and Critical Study Group – Africa (Gaec-Africa).
