Biography
An artist born in Martinique, Élise Fitte-Duval has been living and working in Senegal for over two decades. She graduated from the École d’Arts Plastiques in Martinique in 1989 and the École Nationale Supérieure des Arts Décoratifs in Paris, specializing in photography, in 1996. In her photographic work, Élise Fitte-Duval focuses on movement in all its forms, whether it involves the movement of the body or social movements. She engages in a narrative photographic exploration that delves into the human, social, and urban dimensions. She was awarded the Casa África Prize for a female photographer at the Bamako Encounters African Photography Biennale in 2011. Until 2018, Élise Fitte-Duval worked as a photo editor for PANAPRESS, a Pan-African press agency based in Dakar.
