Africa and international relations

The Extracontinental International Relations axis scientifically understands African modalities of participation in the formation of a globalized world. How have African societies contributed to shaping the international order since the Haitian revolution? Long associated with negative stereotypes, “Africa” has been the subject of a conceptualization, which V. Y. Mudimbé has highlighted. What is the situation in the discipline of International Relations? Today, African actors participate in shaping the global space, through transnational circulations or international institutions. Shedding light on these forms of participation is the scientific interest of this research axis, to train the next generations of practitioners and researchers in International Relations, and to support decision-makers in the formation of a more just and inclusive world for the continent.
