Présentation

Summits of the “Africa-France,” “Russia-Africa,” “China-Africa,” and “Turkey-Africa” type have proliferated in recent years. Organized both on and off the continent, do these diplomatic meetings represent a turning point in the international order? Do they consecrate a renewed African “agency,” or do they, on the contrary, mask updated forms of exploitation of Africa? This seminar will provide an opportunity to answer these questions and to examine the practices of African diplomats at Africa+1 summits, in order to better understand African international relations.
