In this first session, we explore the first volume of the work Senegalese General Criminal Law: Criminal Offence, written by Dr. Papa Assane Touré. This seminar aims to examine in depth the reflections presented in this work while putting into perspective recent developments in Senegalese criminal law.
Biography
Pape Assane Touré, author of three books on Senegalese criminal law published in 2024, is a magistrate of exceptional rank. He has successively held the positions of Deputy Public Prosecutor at the Saint-Louis High Court, Vice-President of the Saint-Louis District Court, Judge at the Dakar High Court (Class A), and Technical Advisor at the Ministry of Justice. Since 2014, he has served as Deputy Secretary-General of the Government in charge of Legal Affairs at the Prime Minister’s Office. With a PhD in private law and criminal sciences, he teaches civil procedure, criminal law, enforcement measures, cybercrime, and legislative drafting at universities and training institutes in Senegal and across Africa. He is also a trainer at the Judicial Training Center (CFJ) and at the Regional Higher School of Magistracy (ERSUMA) of OHADA.
