Biography
Daouda Cissé is a researcher specializing in China studies and Africa-China relations. He was a lead researcher at the German Institute for Development and Sustainability (IDOS) in Germany and associated with Megatrends Afrika from April 2022 to March 2023. He was a visiting researcher at National Chengchi University in Taiwan in 2021. Previously, he worked at the Chinese Studies Institute at the University of Alberta, Canada, and at the Centre for Chinese Studies (CCS) at Stellenbosch University, South Africa.
He holds a Ph.D. in economics from Zhongnan University of Economics and Law in Wuhan, China. He has published several articles on trade and investment between Africa and China, Chinese multinational companies, Chinese investment policies in Africa, and is the author of the book China in Africa: From Macro-Level Engagements to Grassroots Interactions (2021). He is currently a research fellow within the LASPAD Seminars program.
