Presentation

Youth employment stands as a major challenge with significant economic, social, and security implications. With a predominantly young population, Senegal faces the imperative of creating decent and sustainable jobs to absorb this dynamic segment of its population. The employment situation reflects a challenge shared by many African countries, which are confronted with a demographic dividend that can only be realized through the effective integration of youth into the economic and productive sectors.
This seminar aims to provide a platform for dialogue and in-depth analysis of the youth employment issue in Senegal. It will examine the public policies implemented to address youth employment, assess their impact, and propose alternative perspectives for more inclusive professional integration. The goal is to bring together researchers, institutional actors, private sector representatives, and civil society members to exchange views and develop concrete and realistic solutions.
The discussions in this seminar will not be limited to the Senegalese context. The issues surrounding youth employment overlap with challenges faced across the entire African continent and beyond. The insights gained from Senegal’s experience can therefore contribute to broader reflections on how to better address youth employment at the sub-regional and even continental level.
