Biography
Khalifa DIOP, PhD in Geography, graduate of the Leïdi Laboratory “Dynamics of Territories and Development,” Geography Section of Gaston Berger University of Saint-Louis, and researcher at LASPAD (Laboratory for the Analysis of Societies and Powers Africa/Diaspora) of the same university. Academic background in “Ecosystems and Environment,” specifically in the Planning and Management of peri-urban environments. Doctoral research focused on environmental management challenges in urban areas through peri-urban agriculture in West African cities, specifically in Dakar’s Niaye of Pikine.
Currently a researcher and cartographer at LASPAD – UGB of Saint-Louis. Coordination of the Citizen Security Barometer (www.citizen-security.org), monitoring of the Global Africa project (www.globalafrica.ac), cartography for the HIRA program (sexual violence against adolescent girls), and involvement in the survey of publishing houses across the continent (54 countries).
Engagement as a part-time lecturer in Geography and Planning, Religion and Territories, and Geography of Religions at Gaston Berger University of Saint-Louis. Also teaching at UVS on Climate Change and Territories, Migration and Population Policies, Natural Resource Management, and Environmental and Social Risk Management.
Currently pursuing a doctorate at the Center for the Study of Religions at Gaston Berger University of Saint-Louis, focusing on the religious territory through the mapping of Arabic-Islamic educational institutions in Senegal.
In Research and Development, development of a Communal Action Plan for the Environment (PACE) for the municipality of Fass Ngom, Saint-Louis, on behalf of the ARD of Saint-Louis.
